Sapim MG washers are special washers for spoke nipples, manufactured by Sapim. The washers are designed to be used between the nipple and the rim hole, offering numerous advantages, particularly with carbon rims or thin-walled rims. Unlike MS washers, MG washers are made of stainless steel using CNC machining, ensuring greater precision.

– Reduced friction: MG washers reduce friction between the nipple and the rim, allowing for higher and more uniform spoke tension during wheel assembly.
– Increased strength: By distributing the clamping force more effectively over a larger area, the washers increase the strength of the nipple hole area, preventing cracks or damage, especially in carbon or thin-walled rims.
– Improved alignment: The V-shape of MG washers is designed to fit perfectly with Sapim Polyax nipples, acting as a kind of ball joint that allows the nipple to align better with the spoke. This results in optimal alignment and less stress on the components.
– Increased spoke length: When using MG washers, the spoke length must be increased by approximately 2 mm to compensate for the thickness of the washer.
Installation instructions:
– It is necessary to increase the spoke length by 2 mm when using MG washers.
– It is essential to ensure the washer rests on a flat surface within the rim channel.
– For rounded or very narrow rim channels (with a flat area less than 7.5 mm), it is recommended to use Sapim HM washers rather than MG washers.
