CYP Wheels Tubeless rim tape is a specialized sealing tape used in bicycle wheels to facilitate a tubeless tire setup. Its primary function is to cover and seal the spoke holes and rim bed inside the wheel, creating an airtight barrier that prevents air from escaping through these openings. This airtight seal is essential for maintaining proper tire pressure without the need for an inner tube. It features a strong, pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side to ensure a secure bond with the rim surface, resisting movement and peeling even under the stresses of riding and tire inflation.

Selecting the correct width is crucial for complete coverage of the rim bed to avoid air leaks. For installation, the tape must be applied carefully and evenly to avoid air pockets, wrinkles, or overlaps that could compromise the seal or cause punctures.

Ultralight rim tape to make tubeless-ready rims airtight.
Extreme strength and durability with low weight.
Easy to install and conform well to the inner shape of the rim.
Stick well and leave no residue when removed.

Width: Available in various widths (23mm, 25mm, 27mm, 29mm, 32mm, 34mm) to accommodate different rim profiles and widths.
Length: Supplied in rolls of 50mt.

Airtight Seal: Must fully cover spoke holes and rim bed with no gaps or wrinkles to prevent air leakage.
Adhesion: Strong, long-lasting bond to rim surface, resistant to temperature variations, moisture, and vibration.
Flexibility: Sufficient stretch and conformability to fit curved rim profiles without creasing or detaching.
Durability: Resistant to punctures, abrasions, and degradation from tire sealant chemicals.

  1. Clean the rim bed thoroughly to remove dust, grease, and debris.
  2. Measure and cut tape length to fit rim circumference with slight overlap.
  3. Apply tape starting opposite the valve hole, pressing firmly to ensure adhesion.
  4. Overlap tape ends by approximately 10/15cm and trim excess if necessary.
  5. Inspect tape for wrinkles, bubbles, or gaps; reapply if needed before mounting the tubeless tire.

Storage & Handling
– Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures
– Handle with clean hands or gloves to maintain adhesive integrity

– Suitable for use with alloy, carbon fiber, and steel rims designed for tubeless or tubeless-conversion setups
– Compatible with most tubeless tire sealants and valves

Compatibility and Width of Tubeless Tapes
– Choosing the right width of tubeless tape is essential to ensure proper air retention in the rim and good reliability of the tubeless system. The tape must completely cover the inner surface of the rim, including the spoke holes, without leaving any gaps or excessive overlaps.

1. Compatibility with the rim
– The width of the tape must be at least equal to the internal width of the rim, measured between the two inner side walls of the rim channel (also called internal rim width).
– It is advisable for the tape to cover the entire spoke seat to ensure a perfect seal and protect the tyres from exposure to spokes or protrusions.

2. Choosing the width of the tape
– If the inner width of the rim is, for example, 21 mm, the tubeless tape should be at least 21 mm wide or slightly wider (e.g. 23 mm or 24 mm) to ensure complete coverage without excessive tension during application.
– It is best to avoid tapes that are too narrow, as they may come loose or leave unsealed areas.
– Tapes that are too wide (more than 5 mm wider than the inner width) can create folds or wrinkles that are difficult to manage during application, compromising the seal.

3. Additional considerations
– Some rims with special profiles or deep channels may require wider tapes for optimal coverage.
– In the case of rims with very wide internal widths (e.g. over 30 mm), it is best to choose tapes specifically designed for wide rims.
